2007/2008 New Season Mini's Rugby

Sunday 2nd September sees the start of the new season for Mini and Junior rugby at Oxford RFC. Established sixteen years ago the Mini and Junior section caters for players between the ages of five and eighteen, offering Age Group Rugby from Under 7 upwards. Oxford RFC welcomes both boys and girls with Minis Age Groups (up to Under 12) mixed and a separate Junior Girls section for girls from Under 13 to Under 18. New players are welcome to come down to find out about rugby and join the section at any time – the first two Sundays are designated Registration days when we will be open from 9.45am to welcome returning and new players. Come along and find out more – it really is a great activity for Sundays and is fun.
Oxford RFC caters for about 250 Mini and Junior players with a volunteer staff of about 35 qualified coaches providing coaching sessions and matches for all groups on Sundays through the season. Normal coaching and playing times are 10.30am until noon on Sundays, with Junior groups also generally having an evening coaching session during the week. The season runs from the first Sunday in September until the first Sunday in May.
Rugby coaching is run strictly in accordance with the RFU Continuum- a structured process of developing the game starting with non contact Tag Ruby for U7 and U8 groups, then with contact skill gradually being introduced from Under 9 upwards. Juniors (Under 13 upwards) play full fifteen-a-side rugby and from Under 15 upwards teams play in Leagues.

Oxford RFC carries the RFU Seal of Approval/Sport England Clubmark award recognising the quality of our organisation for young players. All our coaches and officials have also been fully checked through the CRB process now mandatory for all who supervise children.
